Game Details

Very strange - wave ends when the plug is pulled and you are washed away - Only a big healthy bubble will survive!

Oddly enough, similar in play and control to Gottlieb's Reactor.

  • Published for PC, Saturn, and PlayStation (USA) by Williams/Midway in Arcade's Greatest Hits/Williams Greatest Hits.
From Don Morlan, 1985 Guiness Book of World Record holder for original Joust:

Early version exists with attract mode featuring no large bubble knocking the sponge or brush into the sink for 2000 points that was present in later versions. In game play, brushes or sponges can NEVER be knocked down the drain on this early version. Also, the early version has grey 2x signs near the drain instead of red 2x signs and the point values for the cleaning lady are also grey instead of yellow orange. With the loss of points from not being able to knock things into the drain for 2000 points, this early version is extremely challenging.

Bubbles games had the Sinistar-esque 49-way optical joystick, not an 8-way joystick.

Williams Hardware Description
The older Williams games (Defender, Stargate, Robotron, Joust, Bubbles and Sinistar) have very similar hardware inside. These machines have five PC boards: CPU/Video- the main board, containing the CPU, RAM and video circuits The game CPU is a Motorola 6809E. There are 24 4116 RAM chips, giving 48K of DRAM, most of which is used for the video display (38K). There is also a 1K by 4-bit CMOS SRAM that is battery-backed-up. This retains the game configuration and high scores when the power is off.
