Game Details

The best pure vertical-scrolling space shoot-em-up in recent history. Along with general improvements in graphics, gameplay etc., you now have the ability to choose whether you start with a single or a dual ship. If you choose dual, you will have one less life at the beginning. Also, you will marvel at the complex dance sequences for the bonus stages. Tangos, waltzes, and marches all are shared here.

Rarely do I like or even approve of sequels to any video game, but in this instance, Namco really hit the nail on the head, maintaining the enduring spirit of the original Galaga, and only injecting the game with the elements that would make the game more enjoyable, rather than cluttering it up with all of the effects the latest technology allowed, just for the sake of it. I have literally *just* converted a PacMania control panel to Galaga '88, as I have finally acquired the right cabinet for this game, and I can't wait to finish it up and set it up in my home. I guess there's not much point in detailing the rules of this game, since it's only a MAME away. Try it. Buy it. Love it!" 2003-05-16 01:18:38Z
