Street Fighter EX2 builds on Street Fighter EX Plus, keeping systems like Guard Breaks (unblockable attacks) and Super Canceling (chaining one Super Combo into another). Its main addition is the Excel Combo system (“extra cancel”), similar to the Alpha series’ Custom Combos. Excel Combos let players string basic and special moves together within a short time limit. A sequence must start with a basic move, which can link to a different basic move or into a special move, then into another different special. Repetition of the same move is not allowed, and special moves cannot be canceled back into basics during an Excel Combo.
